Is it just me? Popular things that just don't do it for you

This is a spin-off from a thread in the "which one should I buy" forum where the OP was wondering what all the fuss was about re: e-ink as it doesn't really work for him/her.

A while back I posted a question in the Lounge forum asking people what they used their connected home devices (Alexa, Google Home, etc.) for. I keep seeing these devices advertised but could never see why I would need one. After reading the responses to my question I still can't see why I would need one.... Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the technology, just that it's not for me.

What's out there that other people seem to really like but holds no interest for you? Doesn't have to be tech. Clothing? Food? Entertainment? Etc.

Anything Apple except cider, cobbler, strudel, and pie
Most social media but especially Facebook.

I don’t see the need to deal with Facebook and anything Google including Android. I don’t like the total lack of care for user security and privacy. Unfortunately I need to use Facebook to keep up with family, but I hate their business principles and total lack of ethics. I use the Google search engine, but avoid their other products and OSes for the same reason.

I don't do Facebook. I just don't like the idea of putting all that personal information out there. It's hard for me to trust thhat it will really be kept private. The people I care about keeping in touch with are available by email or text.

Benchtop kitchen appliances. They take the adventure out of cooking, they take up too much space, they have to cleaned every time you use them. I only have a coffee grinder and a lever operated espresso machine - not even a microwave.

Oh and jeans - never owned a pair.

Crossbody bags. They feel uncomfortable and awkward on me. I much prefer shoulder bags.

Facebook only has as much personal info as you allow, so while I'm not a huge fan, I do use it. Too many family members live in other locations, and I do like some of the private groups I'm on. There is nothing there about me that isn't public info anyway.

I don't see the need for those huge single cup coffee machines. We drink coffee in the morning, and use a basic programmable coffee maker. But those huge machine single cup things are just high maintenance and they use a lot of counter space. Not to mention the plastic waste they create.

Chain restaurants and buffet style restaurants. Most popular chains don't really cook anything, it's all pre-done microwaved salt laden drek. We like home grown eateries, and are lucky to have many around here. And I won't eat at any buffet style herd them up to the trough restaurant. No way, no how.

Star Bucks burnt bitter $3 anything.

I don't do Facebook,Twitter or SnapChat etc. Simply not interested.I am happy with my Desktop PC, my tablet and my smartphone for daily use and staying in contact with family and friends, by voice (phone) or forums/emails. Simple soul, me!

No facebook , snapchat or twitter, for me, the pressure was enormous from family and friends to join. I just never felt a need to join. I can receive and send the same pics and info through emails and phone.

No social media for me other than Goodreads. Does MR count as social media? Dunno. Anything else I could do without sounds like a whine against others with more, so I will stop at that.
