I need to remove all subsequent (multiple) authors
In my library i filled in multiple authors (with &), but i now see calibre/kobo have trouble with writing/reading the metadata for these books (with more than one author).
When I upload books with more than one author, calibre is in 90% of all cases not capable to match the books between device/library, so "on device" stays empty (but the books have indeed landed on my kobo aura h20. This doesn't fail allways, but a lot. So, now i'm trying with search and replace to find the first & in author and delete all following authors (only keep the first). But, I can't manage to get the search string right. Who can help me? |

the & you see is not really there in the relational DB.
The DB has 1 entry per author. each has an index, the book has a list of thoe indexes for authors (this is why you can fix the text of Author in the Tag browser and ALL uses get the update. You fixed the Author table, not the book) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

@sulasu: Don't do it. Unfortunately, the way that calibre writes the authors to the book when you send it to the device is not the way the Kobo wants them. It only reads the first author. And it want multiple authors in the format "FN1 LN1, FN2 LN2". You can get calibre to set the author in the way Kobo likes it with a metadata plugboard. Set the author to:
Code:
program: raw_list('authors', ', ') |

@davidfor: too late!
I found out a workaround earlier, made a custom column #firstauthor with only the first author and then search/replace author with #firstauthor. A bit of a shame, that i lost the multiple authors, but at least my library is consistent again. |

There is a way... Preferences: Searching: Grouped searches: (customize Authors to include the new column). That way, when you select an author in the Tag Browser or Alt-A on a selected Author (in authors column) ![]() |
