Problem with mobi to epub conversion

Hi,

The other day I wanted to reread one of my old books that was in mobi format.
When I convert it to EPUB I get a new small file that only contains the cover.


I have tried to redownload the book from Amazon but the problem persists.

I don't have any problems converting other mobi books to epub.

The book seems to be ok in the Kindle app. (PC and iPad app)

Any ideas?

What device do you want to read it on? I know Kobo will work with MOBI.

you might be downloading the preview version. other than that, hard to say without looking at the file.

You could try using KindleUnpack on it.

Well, I can read the mobi file on my kindles, the Kindle IOS app and the Kindle PC program. So maybe it is not worth much trouble.

But the problem is that I prefer somewhat heavy fonts, and I can't adjust how bold the font appears in a mobi file. I also prefer to use an iPad epub reader app, Marvin or Mapleread.

There are no error messages when I try to convert to epub.
But when I try to convert to azw3, so I can adjust the boldness in my kindles I get this error message: (sorry for the length)

Just saw this thread earlier today when searching for a solution to the same problem. I bought a book from Amazon, dropped it into calibre and it converted to mobi. Tried to convert that to epub and got the same error result that svenlind posted above.

However, this was using calibre 3.44 on Windows. I now see that version 3.40 on a Mac and 3.21 on Linux work just fine -- no errors at all, and no 2-page epub result.

@svenlind: I don't know if this helps, but if you can try a different calibre version on a different OS you might have better luck.

Would this make a difference "output_profile: u'kindle_voyage'"? You want an ePub, correct? Maybe changing the device to one that handles ePubs would work.
