Glo HD Glo HD freezes while zooming pdfs or showing jpegs

Hi,

perhaps someone can help me with the following problem:

I have recently started to read pdfs on my Glo HD, but the reader seems to have massive problems showing/zooming the pdf format (or jpegs). Sometimes the reader freezes just loading pdf pages (mostly pages including jpegs), if I try to zoom pages the reader freezes every time.

I have tried a factory reset, downgrades to older firmwares (down to 3.x) and even changed the internal sd card ... nothing helped against the freezes.

Is this a common problem with the Glo HD? Is there a way to show pdfs without knocking out the Kobo every time?

Firstly, I don't normally use PDFs on any of my Kobo ereaders. The main time I look at them is in response to a posts like this. And my general recommendation for PDFs and these devices is, "Don't".

Having said that, I've never seen any real problems like you describe. The display is usually good. Paging is a bit slow depending on the book. Zooming and panning is slow. But, I don't remember any freezing. I just tried three of four PDFs and a couple images on the Glo HD and there were no freezing. It was slow and not a great experience, but there was nothing I would call a "freeze".

But, can you clarify what you mean by "freeze"? It stops working and you have to restart the device? Or automatically restarts. Or it stops but then comes back to life after a bit?

Thanks for your answer. I switched to KOReader in the meantime, in contrast to nickel everything (pdf zooming/panning) works fine and fast there.
