Multiples Libraries

Due to the number of books/magazines/notes I have in Calibre I decided to split it into several libraries. New items generally are added to my main Calibre library then distributed to other libraries as required. This has been working very well.
In the last couple of days something has changed (probably by me in error though not that I remember).

I am running the latest version of Calibre (3.42). The only thing that happened recently is that Windows 10 decided that the USB hard drive that Calibre is on needed 'fixing'. I am beginning to fear for this drive but it comes back OK.
Now, Calibre loads OK and finds my main Calibre library. However, although all the other libraries which are in the same Windows folder, they are no options to either send books to them or as a quick change/search under Calibre Library icon.
I have been using Calibre for years and multiple libraries for several years but this problem is a new one to me. I have searched for multiple library queries but found nothing relative to this.

Any suggestions welcome. I have run maintenance and the initial run comes up clean - no errors in my database. The second run which checks files is another story - heaps of errors but I don't think any of them relate to my main problem.

Your Calibre user preferences folder (usually on the main drive) had something happen to it (if more than just this preference got lost).

Simply use Create/Switch: USE EXISTING to re-link EACH of the other libraries to the menu.

Check The Windows Event viewer (Right click the windows start icon). red is bad and should be investigated

Thanks theducks,

Problem solved. Your "Simply use Create/Switch: USE EXISTING to re-link EACH of the other libraries to the menu."
And simple it was - so am I for not trying that.
Many thanks

Glad that recovered.
I would still want to know what destroyed the old linkage.
(I don't know what file they were listed in)
You may have something bad (sick disk, rogue A/V) lurking

Hi,
I made a terrible mistake a few moments ago when I had finished a long reply, Then posted it but only just before I hit 'back' key briefly seeing a message that said it was not posted so entire message lost.
With the problems with my Calibre Library I had to accept that the drive it was on caused the problems with a corruption which, it seems, was in the main Calibre librayr area. I have copied my entire Calibre libraries to another healthy drive. All my other libraries are OK. I have tried several rebuilds without success. Message below:

Corrupted database: The library database at H:\Calibre Portable\Calibre Library appears to be corrupted.
Do you want calibre to try and rebuild it automatically? The rebuild may not be completely successful.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\ui.py", line 701, in library_moved
File "site-packages\calibre\db\legacy.py", line 84, in __init__
File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 357, in init
File "site-packages\calibre\db\backend.py", line 1284, in read_tables
File "site-packages\calibre\db\tables.py", line 146, in read
File "c:\t\t\apsw-zu_bhl\apsw-3.27.2-r1\src\cursor.c", line 236, in resetcursor
CorruptError: CorruptError: database disk image is malformed

The actual library can be accessed by Windows file explorer and SQL Light Database inqiry. As this library contains several thousand items and is the most used I am now desparate. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
regards

I you have a recent backup, why not just restore it.

Otherwise, I suggest you backup what you have, and then do a Restore database:

Name:	Annotation 2019-06-05 173831.jpg
Views:	98
Size:	72.8 KB
ID:	171788

And if that works, take another backup.

Hi BetterRed,
Unforunately I have had a series of corruptions due to disk problems. All backup (apart from very old) no good

Then take the 'backup, Restore database' route - the first backup is just in case the Restore screws something up - it won't of course, but something else might.
