Reader dead

Sony PRS-T1 ereader is off and non-responsive even after long battery charging and multiple reset attempts.

I assume the battery is dead.

Is there: (1) any way to wake it up; and (2) is it worthwhile to try to get Sony to repair the ereader?

Thanks.

I don't know that Sony any longer has any facilities for repairing a T1. Batteries can be purchased fairly cheaply, but replacing them requires de-soldering and re-soldering three wires.

Battery available on eBay (if in the U.S.) ...

You can also usually find cheap T1s on Shop Goodwill or eBay. (Not much there right now.) It might not be a bad time to upgrade to a T2.

Although if you want quick and dirty, you could probably snip and twist the new wires to the old leads and add a little electrical tape to insulate.

As bad as I am at soldering, that would probably be the best solution for me.

I think my battery is nearly dead? Goes to a stripe pattern when charger unplugged and after awhile seems to freeze?

Maybe this is better for ordering in Europe, not sure. Maybe only ships to USA which is strange.
Edit
Mysteriously now shipping anywhere. Perhaps eBay is buggy.

Just curious, can you read with it plugged in?

Seems the stripe pattern means fully charged. Strange design.
