Cannot cannot wireless to Calibre
I cannot get my lap top to connect wirelessly to the Calibre installation on my desktop today. I can connect to Calibre using my iPhone and iPad through CC. The laptop is connected to the internet through Wi-Fi and I can browse the internet
I have tried four different browsers on the laptop. Edge says it cannot reach this page. Chrome says this page isn't working. Internet Explorer says there was a problem and subsequent attempts simply returned Bing searches. Firefox says it is connecting to the 192 etc address but then times out. This worked on Thursday. The laptop is running Windows 10 and the browsers have permission to access the web. Calibre is on a desktop running Windows 7 and I did click on Start wireless device connection under Connect/Share. I closed and opened Calibre several times. Did the same with the laptop. Any help would be appreciated. |

Wireless devices can get a different Band on WiFi routers. If you can (all devices must be compatible), set the router to only do a single band.
Some routers block PEER connections as a security measure. (I don't think this is your case since it did work with that router) Does the Calibre PC have a static or reserved IP. (reserved is configured in the routers DHCP section). this keeps the address from changing. |

Thanks for your reply. I don't know how to check what sort of IP the desktop has. I also don't know how to set the router to a single band if it doesn't have one. My technical expertise sort of stopped developing when I retired. |

If you want to access your library via web browser, you need to start the content server. Also note that the port for wireless device connection and Calibre content server are different. |

I got into the router and got to the wireless 'page." Under Channel it says "Auto - 1" Is that what you mean by having only a single band? I updated Calibre but still no go. |

The IP Connection Type says Dynamic IP. In the DHCP section it says that DHCP Reservation State is enabled. Dynamic DNS State is disabled The router can see the lap top |

Oh my gosh - I am such an idiot. As soon as I did the content server the laptop hooked right up to Calibre. I guess I was just so used to using the wireless connection with the iPad. Thank you both for your replies. I'm sorry for wasting your time. |
