Library doesn't display updated cover
Hi Folks!
![]() I use Calibre 3.40.1 with Win10 x64. I searched in the forum and manual for a solution, but found none. :-( https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/edi...adding-a-cover https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...ighlight=cover The issue is a) Calibre 3.40.1 does not import the cover of _some_ epubs, even though the covers are embedded (as cover.jpg in the epub itself) b) If I add the cover via "Edit"-"Add A Cover"->'Save' and restart, I still can't see it in the library. BUT: If I import the epub a second time, calibre's library shows the book cover in the second instance of the book. Thanks for reading this! ![]() Andy I tested the 'repair ebooks' function in 'edit ebook' but it did not help. |

Your old book did not have the cover properly defined. That requires 2 things to be flagged (semantics) in the OPF.
1)the image file (the name IS NOT the flag) 2)the (x)HTML file that uses the image AS the cover. (this file can NOT also be flagged as something else. Covers are seperate) Using the Add cover tool does the flagging. BUT (to your other problem) Calibre Library only AUTOMATICALLY sets the cover SHOWN on ADD, not from a BOOK edit. If you had opened the Metadata editor: Selected the format on the right: then click the brown book Icon (gets cover from format): OK That forces a fresh cover to be used for the library. ![]() ![]() |

Thank you, 'theducks'!

Edit metadata->edit metadata individually->click on 'epub' icon in the top right corner->click on blue book icon left of it->click 'ok'. Now there is a cover in the library and also in the book details window. ![]() Quote:
![]() But there is a complicated work around (at least for my case) When I open 'Edit book' in a book with no cover in the library, i scroll on the left panel to the image with the tiny blue cover icon left to it. Then I open the context menu of the file and choose 'Export NAME_OF_FILE.jpg'. Next I look for the folder, where book's epub and opf are located and save the image as cover.jpg. Now do I close Calbre and when I open it again -voila- the cover is shown in the library. ![]() |
