Boox Note: defective notetaking on the right hand side?

Hello everyone,

I have just received a Onyx Boox Note 10.3" (the only one available on amazon in Canada) that I bought to anotate PDF scientific articles. However, my Boox Note seems to have a problem: notetaking is defective on a ~0.5cm band on the right hand side of the screen, which is a consistent issue for my use-case.

I have seen someone with a similar issue in amazon comments, for those of you who own this device I would like to know if you have the same issue before I return the device to get a new one, please. Basically, on the right hand side of the screen (0.5cm from the edge), I need to press very hard to write anything at all.

The Note Pro doesn't seem to have this issue on the 2.0.1 firmware in the Notes application. I can scribble all the way to the edge of the screen and make zig zags up and down the edge without the inking jump. Its not the Note 10.3 but it'd be surprising if the Note 10.3 had this issue but the Pro didn't. Sounds like the device is defective, it'd be worth trading it in for a new one just in case while you still can with Amazon

Hi junkyardwillie, thanks for your feedback! I will send it back to amazon. Actually I would like to buy the pro instead because the screen protector is a pain on the Note 10.3 and it is not very responsive either, but can't seem to find it in Canada.

Actually I found GoodEReader in Canada that sells the Note Pro for 599 USD + 32 USD for shipping (didn't found prices in CAD?), which I think is too expensive, but the real problem is that there is a good amount of comments on the internet advising to absolutely avoid this company.

Also, experimenting on my Note I found that the problem actually depends on the orientation of the stylus: it works near every edges IF AND ONLY IF the stylus is oriented toward the edge. Weird.

I have found them to be very reliable.

I would never order anything from Good Ereader. They still have unfulfilled orders from their Indiegogo campaign even though they have been selling those devices for immediate sale from their web store.

Yea I had considered the 10.3 but I do a lot of my reading at night before heading to sleep so I needed the light. Also when I saw people warning of the 10.3's screen getting marked up with the pen I felt it was better off with the Pro if I was going to give either a shot. So far its working great, got it from Amazon US

Yup, they are very reliable. And for some reason, I didn't have to pay any Canadian duty or taxes on my Nova Pro and Note Pro which I ordered at the same time and which came together in the same box.

What's wrong with Boox Notes ? I have sent back my device to Amazon.ca et bought another one, it arrived on Sunday, and not only it had the same defect only not as bad (so I had decided to keep it), but today when I started the device a line of dead pixels appeared on the right-hand side of the screen!

That will be my second Boox Note return to Amazon.ca in a row... At least I can send them back for free (and hopefully they will refund me without problems although I have applied the screen protectors). I am not sure it would be that easy with the german store...

This makes me quite sad because this device is super useful for what I need to to do but it is apparently very unreliable although it is super expensive for a e-reader?
