Messed up database
I had my library of some 700 Photography e-books in perfect order and added my own tags, categories etc so that I could find any book on any topic.
Unfortunately I had my e-book sub folder on my OneDrive (Microsoft) and wanted to access it from my desktop computer instead of my laptop where I had done all the hard work. I know appear to have messed up the metadata somewhat. In Calibre the book shows up with a Generic cover, and if I click on it I get a message saying that the book has no available formats, however, if I look in the actual sub-directory I can see 3 files: Cover.jpg, metadata.opf, and the pdf of the ebook. Is there a program available that can read the ebook directory and restore the information or do I have to go through each book and redo it. Thanks heaps. Christina |

1) stop the sync. 2 way sync is what got you in this mess. (a backup sync may be OK, but pause it when using Calibre, as it can lock files that
Calibre may be trying to update) 2) BACKUP what you have (just in case step 3 goes south) 3) On the Library Icon: Library Maintenance: Restore Database. This reads those OPF files you saw and rebuilds the DB IF that fails DO NOTHING ELSE until you check back here. Every false step hurts a full recovery task |

Now you know why there are repeated warnings NOT to have your Calibre library on a network or Cloud drive! You may get away with it for a while, but sooner or later you'll screw it up. DON'T put your library on a Cloud drive. If you want to back it up to the Cloud, use a sync tool to copy it there.
