Exclamation Maybe a bug?

I just noticed what seems to be a strange behavior on Mac OS Mojave.

If I have calibre open and then expand or minimize a folder in my "auto-add" location, calibre tries to add a file called "Unknown" and it ends up having no format and no data.

I have been able to reproduce this repeatedly.

I suspect this is happening because calibre is recognizing the .DS_Store files that are being changed by the operating system.

calibre only auto adds files not folders. And IIRC I told it to ignore .DS_Store anyway, but maybe I am misremembering. Is there anything inside .DS_Store?

Also by default it will only add known ebook file types unless you told it to add all file types in Prefrences->Adding books->Automatic adding

Understood. The DS_Store can safely be ignored because all it has in it is stuff like window location and folder state (expanded/minimized) if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the pointer to adding books. I checked there and it was set to import all files, so that's what was doing it.

Thank you for a great program!

Windows user here, desktop.ini's, thumbs.db's, and DSStore's are noxious weeds; the latter being the most prevalent, see ==>> How to disable the creation of .DS_Store files for Mac users' folders - TechRepublic
