I'm feeling quite uncomfortable posting this question since probably there's an obvious answer that I'm not able to find.
Long story short, I wanted to replace the date on all my ebooks with the published date but couldn't figure out how to do that. |

What happened is that I imported a bunch of old ebooks to Calibre and, obviously, they show today as the (added to Calibre) date. But you're perfectly right, I did hide a date column and I'm using pubdate to sort. Thank you.

Scroll your Calibre page all the way over. Published date will be the last column. Select it and drag it over to where Calibre entry date is and then drag Calibry entry date to the end.

FWIW: I've never needed to know when I added a book, so I use Date as my date read column, I clear it when I add a book.
In Preferences->Add you own columns, Date has 'timestamp' as the lookup name. But when I hover the mouse over the book list Date header it has 'date' - how come BR |
