Hi everyone. I am a new kindle owner and this is my first post here. Great forum, thanks to everyone for your work!
Been searching for a few hours, and hitting a specific roadblock setting up KUAL that I haven't seen anyone else hitting. So far I've: Successfully jailbroken: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=312489 Latest hotfix successfully installed - still on 5.10.0.2 though (the Kindle isn't detecting OTA update to latest 5.10.3): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...postcount=1597 However, whatever MRinstaller I try, I get an "MRPI is not installed" error message in the top left corner of the PW when trying to run the KUAL package with ;log mrpi.. nothing else happens. It is not generating a log. Kindle is still functional. I've tried the original MRinstaller from here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=251143 And the latest version from here: http://cloud.ak-team.com/ In combination with both the original and latest KUAL launchers, and the coplate version.. I've been trying to launch them all from the mrpackages folder with ;log mrpi but getting the error message https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=304 @dr.network appears to be the only other person on the internet to have this error, and seems to have resolved it, but I can't follow how. I've tried to use any updated MRinstaller files I could find with no joy https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...71&postcount=2 **Any ideas?** I would really like to install a custom screensaver on my new kindle, and now its getting personal. Don't know how to code, but could be walked through whatever is needed. Thank you again!! Jon |

Don't use the original MRinstaller. That's too old.
How are you installing the latest snapshot to the Kindle? Assuming you're on Windows, you probably need to double extract the .tar.xz (first to get the .tar, then extract again to get the actual files). You should have the following folders on your Kindle's uppermost directory (e.g. X:\) /extensions/MRInstaller/ /mrpackages/ Last edited by ilovejedd; 03-06-2019 at 01:33 AM. |

Thanks @ilovejedd. On Mac OSX here.
Figured it out with that input. I was extracting kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r15788 and dragging that whole extracted file onto the Kindle, so the extensions and MRpackages folder weren't on the uppermost directory. Just tried again after dragging those two folders on the root directory and searching ;log mrpi, and it worked this time! Then kindle-linkss-0.25.N-r15788.tar ran from the MRpackages folder using KUAL/Helper/Install MR Packages button, which added the Screensaver tool to KUAL, and the linkss/screensaver folder in the root. (from here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030 https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=195474) Sorry just documenting for anyone else in the same boat. Screensaver now installed. ![]() ![]() Last edited by jonathanve09; 03-06-2019 at 07:33 AM. |
