Has anyone owned the Oasis and the Voyage?
I currently own the Paperwhite 3 and am trying out an Oasis 2. The main thing I like about the Oasis 2 is its screen quality. The lightning is so much more even and slightly less blue. Despite both being 300 ppi, the Oasis 2 text looks less blurry, I'm guessing due to the glass screen versus the plastic screen on the Paperwhite 3.
Anyway, I see the new Paperwhite will have a flush screen that some articles today say is glass. This had me wondering if this will make it look as nice as the Oasis screen. I then realized that the Voyage also has the flush screen and may serve as a good example of what we can expect the Paperwhite 4 screen to look like. So is there anyone who owns both the Voyage and the Oasis and can comment on how close the Voyage come to the Oasis in screen quality?https://dltutuapp.com/ https://9apps.ooo/https://showbox.software/ Last edited by ryankapoor; 10-17-2018 at 03:33 PM. |

I have owned the voyage and paperwhite 3.
I honestly did not notice any differences in screen quality. between those 2. I sold the voyage because I did not like the buttons, they always needed a little bit more pressure than I wanted to apply, even at lowest settings, then they left with me with the nagging doubt of did I just turn 2 pages by mistake. |

The Voyage has slightly sharper and better contrast compared to both Oasis models and the Paperwhite. Best way to explain is the text looks closer to the screen.

I own the Voyage and returned an Oasis 1 and 2. There were other reasons for the returns, but the main one was that the Voyage has a screen with better clarity and contrast which is the most important thing to me. The fact that Amazon does not state whether the new Paperwhite has a plastic or glass screen makes me think that it is probably plastic.

This is my experience as well. Still, I find myself using the Oasis 2 far more than others, because of the bigger screen. And since Amazon made it possible to adjust the font weight, the difference in text sharpness/darkness is negligible, imho.

I had both. I loved the Voyage but the larger screen of the Oasis 2 is great. I liked "pagepress" on the Voyage but the button on the Oasis are fine.
I actually couldn't tell much of a difference in the screens except that the Voyage tended more towards cool blue light. The new Paperwhite being waterproof and with a flush screen is awesome. I can see why they stopped the Voyage as there isn't much of a difference between them now except the "pagepress". |

Same as everyone else - the Voyage had crisper text with more contrast and a whiter, almost blue-white background.
The back of the Voyage was smooth like velvet. It felt the nicest to hold out of all the readers I’ve had. The position of the PagePress buttons led to a little bit of a cramping position for my hands though. For a while I had the Oasis 2 and the Voyage side by side. The Voyage always felt so effortless and light next to the Oasis, and I loved not having to flip the device every time I wanted to change hands. (Aside: that must drain a lot of battery power, don’t you think? Rotating all the text every time you change hands? I try to keep my Oasis in the same orientation to lengthen my battery life and I’d appreciate a lock as an option.) With the Voyage, the text appeared to be floating or hovering, which was a cool effect. The Oasis has this just a little. I kept the Oasis as I appreciate the larger screen, plus some comics that wouldn’t even download to the Voyage due to some kind of incompatibility display beautifully on it. I have both, the Voyage seems to look a little sharper. I need to go up a couple levels to get the same brightness on the Oasis 2. I'm sad they discontinued the voyage, but I have a backup one. I hope they can have something like it with buttons in the future Paperwhite 5 maybe.

I've got both. I carry my Oasis 2 around with me all the time. Its extra storage (32GB) means I can throw everything on there and never worry about running out of space, and the waterproof thing also adds peace of mind.
The Voyage has a better screen, like others have said. Whiter background, and sharper, with greater contrast. Also, metal is not a good material for an e-reader, in my opinion. The Voyage does feel nicer to hold. And it has that excellent origami case. But, the Oasis is a little bit quicker in the software. |
