Default location on device?
How does one set the default location for e-books on my device? In other words, i have a folder "e-books" on my device (android phone) and i'd like to have calibre add my new books to this folder only. Currently Calibre is searching my entire device and taking up to 1/2 hour, so far.
Thanks |

The initial search must complete (and you must leave the 2 files calibre (in the name) leaves in the root.
In the device driver template: configure a literal \e-books\{author_sort}\{title} (assumes it is in the root ) calibre companion (connects to Calibre) has even more control, you can set a location for each file type

Thank you. So i assume that it needs to re-search the entire device each time? I just added one more book and it is now up to 14 minutes to add a single book (i did let it run completely the first time).

If you want to restrict what it searches simply right click the device icon in calibre and choose configure this device and specify what top-level folders to search.

Thanks guys, no files removed. I think i may be having issues with calibre seeing my device, as sometimes i have a "send to device" icon and other times i don't. I'll check my cable...

OK, no luck. However i did find a work-a-round (to help others reading this). I email the files to my device then copy them over to my ebooks folder on my device. They are then readable with my e-reader. A lot more steps but at least it works!
Not sure why calibre doesn't see my device (it's not in the "ignore" setting), but i do use my phone to tether my desktop and that works fine, so win 10 is seeing my device, but calibre doesn't. - t Last edited by tomx2; 09-05-2018 at 09:42 PM. |
