Converting cbz-mobi Adds Margins all around comic (kindle paperwhite 3)

I'm trying to make the smallest mobi file possible with an archive of manga pages in a cbz file. When I open the cbz in the calibre viewer there are no margins around the pages. When I convert it to mobi there are margins and it is slightly stretched horizontally. I've tried checking ignore margins and it does nothing. I have also disabled comic processing. I have tried converting it to a few other file formats but only epub outputs with the correct formatting; although every other page is blank.

I have tried using Kindle Comic Converter but it frustratingly makes the mobi files 2-3 times the size of the source content.

Any help is appreciated, thank you for your time.

The MOBI renderer on the kindle always renders margins. IIRC if you install custom firmware for it, you can change that.

That isn't correct though. Mobi files generated with Kindle comic converter have no margins on the kindle and Calibre viewer.

That's because they are not MOBI files. They are fixed layout KF8 files (with a KF7 component as well for older kindles which will have margins). MOBI as in the original KF7 format has no support for this.
