Update Calibre v1.46 to v3.28. Any compatibility issues?

I've been using v1.46 for years without any issues. Due to a new ereader it looks like I have to upgrade.

I believe the Calibre database is compatible between all versions but I'd prefer not to experiment with a fairly large library, or have to restore from backup, particularly as issues may not be immediately apparent.

Can anyone definitively confirm that there will be no database compatibility or functionality/options issues upgrading my Calibre install from v1.46 to 3.28? Or alternatively if there are any steps I have to take prior to the upgrade?

There are never any compat issues with the database upgrading calibre. There might be downgrading it, though even those are relatively rare.

If you use optional plugins you will probably need to update those also since older plugins using QT4 are not be compatible with newer calibre. A few older plugins were never updated and will no longer run.

Also Windows XP and and some older Mac OS versions are not supported with newer versions of calibre.

Thanks. I was aware of the XP restriction but that's not relevant to me anymore. I do use some plugins I find useful. I'll check them to see if there are any orphans.
