Poor download speeds when downloading books

Hello;
I am using the Calibre EBook library on my PC and Calibre Companion for Android on my tablet to read the books. I can connect to Calibre using CC without a problem, can list the books available and can select the book that I want to download. The problem that I am having is that it seems to take forever to download a book. I mean it takes several minutes at least to download a simple pdf. I don't see it as a network problem as I can transfer files back and forth without a problem. Does anyone have any idea as to possible sources of the problem? Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.
Regards;
Frank

Check our FAQ [Android] I have added a lot of books and now adding books takes forever. What do I do?

Hello;
Thank you for the quick response. I thought that having a lot of books might be a factor as I now have > 7,000 books/documents. I created a test library with only half a dozen books to see if the download time improved, and it did improve very slightly, but for the most part, no it was not a significant improvement.
Best Regards;

How did you create the test library? I think you would need to uninstall/reinstall CC. Did you do that and store the books in an empty folder on the device?

Hello;
Yes, that's exactly what I did. I uninstalled Calibre and reinstalled it on my PC. Then I added 5 or 6 books to the new library and then tried to download them using CC on my tablet.
Thanks;
Frank

That's what I thought you might have done. Unfortunately, that has no effect on what the FAQ is describing. The changes are all in CC. You don't need to uninstall/reinstall CC. Instead follow the directions in the FAQ to tell CC to use its own templates for file naming, then set up a template as described.
