As announced in the developer mailing list, I managed to add a page indicator to the content lister. The approach has some limitations and it's still a work-in-progress but I think it's refined enough for a public release.
As you can see in the 3rd screenshot, the app adds (updates, more precisely) a [last opened page/total pages] tag in the description area of the contet lister. Basic instructions:
