Nurse in need of some help!!

Hi All,

I am a RN in SE New Mexico (yes, United States please). I am currently using my Palm TX and the software Pepid for medical referencing during my shifts at the hospital. I received several books from my son on an SD card, but cannot figure out how to get them onto my Palm. They are in Microsoft Reader. I don't know how to convert the files; or if I even need too. Can anyone help ?

Thanks

If your palm is literally a Palm OS device then I think you are out of luck. If your Palm is a Win Mobile / Pocket PC then you can install the mobile MS Reader on it.

That said, is there a reader that runs on Palm OS? if there is you could probably convert your LIT books to a format it will read. Doesn't Palm reader/ereader support this?

As Far as i've been able to find, there is no Microsoft Reader for the Palm OS and MS has no planes to release one.

The best option would probably be for you or your son to convert the files into another format. Which format you choose to convert it to will decide which program you can use.

Lit files can be converted to HTML pretty easily and they you can either read the html directly on your palm, or convert it to something like mobipocket for ease of use.

There are a number of programs available for such reading and the member's here will be glad to suggest some.

I believe that you need the Convert LIT program

http://www.convertlit.com/

This will let you extract the HTML from the Microsoft Reader files . You can then use the free Mobipocket Creator program

http://www.mobipocket.com/en/Downloa...ilsCreator.asp

to convert into Mobipocket files, and the free Mobipocket Reader program

http://www.mobipocket.com/en/Downloa...?device=PalmOs

is available for your Palm.

Hi desertlady--welcome and have fun!

Sorry I can't offer any help with your technical problem but I wanted to let you know that I went to graduate school in Las Cruces. Loved it there (especially the food!) and often miss it.

Regards,
R.L.
