Anybody using 505 hacks AND Overdrive books?

Hi:
Still having the crashing/reboot/endless spinning arrows issues I detailed in another thread anytime I let ADE touch my reader. I've cut my book collection size in half, stopped using any external memory and banged my head on my desk but nothing has helped.

The similar problem with UK readers seems to be bad firmware, so that doesn't explain my US Reader problem. Other US users are apparently using Overdrive library books with no problems. So I'm now thinking:
- I've got a bad Reader or,
- There's some interaction with the 505 hacks I've installed and ADE that is causing the problem.

The latter could be checked with a reflash and restoring all my books, but before I burn yet another ADE activation I'd like to see if anybody here has applied the 505 hacks and is also using Overdrive PDF library books.

If so:
- which hacks do you have installed?
- how did you install them?
- are you seeing any of the problems I mentioned above?

Thanks!!!!
Bob

I'm using a modified (US) 505[1] & Overdrive-sourced ADE books with no problems, I'm afraid!

[1] Changes of clock, unified fonts, one-key off & custom title. I used the approach detailed in the "Universal Flasher 2.0 with PRS-505 support!", as I was doing this prior to Jeff creating his PRSCustomiser.

Thanks - that seems to take the hacks off the list. My library uses protected PDFs from Overdrive (vs. DE) so perhaps that's the difference.

Both should work. Have you registered your ID?

Oh yeah - I can read the books fine, the problem is loading or deleting them.

It seems like ADE is messing up the .xml index files on my Reader each time it does anything (deletes a book, adds a book, etc) so that the the reader has to re-index EVERYTHING after a disconnect, which takes about fifteen minutes, after an apparently mandatory crash.

I gave up using an external memory card because the re-indexing was taking so long.

You don't have to use ADE to load Secure PDF on you reader. The Sony Library also loads them. In addition if you do use the library you get the benifit of using Collections.

Thanks - I'll give that approach a try next time I refresh the books.
