Strange "burn in" after KLC stayed a few weeks with the same sleep screen.

Hi everyone, I bought a KLC a few month ago but after leaving it a few weeks turned off, the title of the book I let as a sleep screen caused some kind of burn in. As you can see the title from the cover that caused the burn-in "Barsoom omnibus" is persisting on the cover on the right. I tried to refresh multiple time, reboot the device and even a complete factory reset but it still there.

Spoiler:

It seems to only affect colored pages when displaying black and white I can't notice it at all.

Did anyone came across something similar? Do you think the warranty cover that kind of thing?

I may have found an explanation, apparently e-ink are sensible to UV light and long exposure can cause a degradation of contrast.
As it turn out I left my KLC near a window while turned off directly exposed to the sun and "Barsoom omnibus" cover on... for at least a few weeks

This sucks but at least now I know what to do or at least what not to do with e-ink devices and it took me 10s of hours of usage to notice it... So It could be worst.

Anyway protect your screens everyone!

Colour eink will be much more sensitive to UV as the pigments bleach.

I've seen burn-in even on LCD monitors in a call centre and also partially faded screen where part only was in sunlight.

This is why a proper case should be used. Then the screen won't be exposed to the sun.
