Batch Metadata Editing...

Hi!

I've been searching around the Calibre help pages and cannot seem to locate the answers to my questions.

I need to "batch edit" the metadata for a bunch of books. However, I have an issue that I cannot figure out. When I edit a single book and download the metadata and cover, it finds the info (allows me to choose if there are multiple descriptions) and then finds covers that are generally 2200x??? (depending on shape of the cover) or at worst, close to 1000x???. However, when I switch to batch metadata editing, it changes this and finds the description OK, but always, always, finds book covers of 500x300 (ish) - even if the original cover is much larger. What I cannot seem to find is how do I get Calibre to find the larger size covers when I do batch editing? Is there a setting somewhere? A plugin, perhaps? Anything that you could point me towards to fix this would be brilliant!

Secondly, can Calibre (or a plugin) rename files once I've completed the batch metadata editing? Will it screw up the files that the books are in? I'd really love to be able to have a standard file naming setup across all the books.

Thanks SO much in advance! If I've missed this info in the help, I apologize - and if you can simply point me to that section, I'm happy to read it from there. I don't know if my searches weren't using the correct keywords or if I overlooked any answer. Just wanted to make clear I'm not asking for anyone to specifically tell me something that's already written out somewhere.

Thanks again!

IIRC there's an optional-plugins that fetch hi-res covers from Amazon - have a look in the Download Metadata section of the Plugin Index. And the Search the Internet plugin could probably be used to search for covers.

Regarding your renaming files question - see Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library?
