Sony DPT-RP1 (Android) or Onyx Max 2 ?

Sony
Pros
Lighter more compact
Made by Sony
Case cover available

Cons
Android isn’t from the factory

Onyx
Pros
Original stable android
Good native PDF reader app
Cons
Too balky
No case cover

Mainly needed for two/three columns academic PDF reading

Please add your opinion on the topic.
Thanks.

Do you already know the Wiki? Compare for yourself:

wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Sony_DPT-RP1
wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/BOOX_MAX2_Pro

I don't own any of both devices, but the Onyx Boox appears to be the better option for the money, both for the hardware and the software capabilities. The Sony device is too limited unless the rather narrow scope of functionality matches the intended use scenario.

I have read and watched numerous items on both.
Too me it’s clear that Sony weight alone at 349 grams vs onyx’s 550 grams makes it more mobile and comfortable to use.

Sony has superb hardware whereas onyx has better software.

Thus my consideration is to install android on Sony and make the best large ereader all around.

Would be interesting to hear comments from Sony with installed adroit users.

If you visit the Sony forum, you will probably find more of such information there:
