Kobo Start Menu Stopped Loading

Hi,
I turned my kobo h20 on the other day showed a message about a new update, and I couldn't do anything other than accept. Then the screen had a weird animation rotating with an arrow repeatedly..

Since that Nickel is working correctly, but KSM doesn't start on launch or work if i click the image in the library....

I am a bit worried about installing KSM from scratch in case it caused further issues.

Anyone had the same thing or can anyone advise what I need to do to reinstall?

I try to understand what was happening:

• the KSM main menu showed a new entry "handle update"
• you selected "handle update" and then "install update" (which was one among several options)

If this is what happened, the update disabled KSM, and I can provide a small package that enables it again. If it happened differently, please give a description with more details.

I should mention that with the new FW there is a problem with KSM on H2O and some other models. Currently, when you enter nickel you should return to KSM, since otherwise the screen will rotate and KSM difficult to handle or not at all. I think this can be fixed, but until now nobody asked for it, or offered to do dome test.

Edit: I uploaded the restoration package.
Installation:

• Extract KoboRoot.tgz from the archive and copy it to .kobo of the device.
• Safely eject and disconnect the reader.

Thanks for speedy response.

Sorry, I will try and explain it a bit better.

In the morning I woke up, looked at my kobo and it had a screen with one button and text that said something along the lines of an update is ready to be installed.

I reset the kobo a few times but this kept coming up with no back button or anything else to press. So I pressed the button (I think it said update)

Then the screen just kept rotating and flashing with an arrow in one corner. After about 3/4 mins it restored in Nickel and as far as I could tell nickel had been updated.

I reset the kobo again and noticed KSM didn't start up. Then I tried the images intl the bookshelf (exit to KO reader etc) and still no luck.

Hopefully this makes more sense to you about what actually happened, and whether or not the file attached will help me

Never mind...... My mac was automatically extracting the TGZ as well....... Will give this a go

I had the exact same problem as the earlier post mentioned. Will the restore package provided above work with KSM 09. thanks in advance.

It is advisable not to use this package against KSM 09!
