book view links

I will agree with anyone who says or thinks Calibre is another of the best things since healthy sliced bread. However, I'd like to ask why when I click the link of the author's name it only took me to Goodreads instead of giving a list of all that author's books in my Calibre library as well?

I know I can nav on the left panel but it's so much easier to find books by clicking the name of the author from the right side panel.

Is such a thing possible in Calibre?

and my question should have been 'is there another way of seeing a list of books by an author from the book details panel?'

I wasn't able to get that screen @BetterRed; however, I find when I right click on the author's name in the book details panel, I get a few options; among them are, 'manage (author's name); 'search calibre for (author's name)'.

In the spreadsheet (library) view, click on the author (sets the focus) then tap Q (quickview. Also works on most columns)

Yes, press the Alt+A key combination when the book is selected in the book list.

The screen shot I posted shows the Keyboard Shortcuts for Similar books, its one of the Preferences dialogues.

If you don't have or don't know how to use the keyboard then right click the book in the book list, and then select Similar books->Books by the same author, viz:

Sounds like you have found what you need. "That screen" is simply an image of the keyboard shortcuts available via calibre - Preferences - Advanced - Shortcuts which is located at the bottom of the preferences screen so you may have to scroll down to find it.

And the one that's been missed is...

What happens when you click the author link in the details pane is controlled but the preference: Look & Feel, Book details and then the first item. One of the choice is "Search for the author in your calibre library". The others are searches for different sites.

That's the first place I looked, but like the man on the stairs it wasn't there. I suspect I expected to see it as the first or last item.
