Google Play Services - pros and cons
One application requires the installation of the Google Play Services.
(So, that application has been available forever and I never made it work.)

Apart from the matter of principle of "why on earth would you need the Google Play Services", the first practical question becomes "what are the drawbacks of installing the Google Play Services". The first suspicion, based on shallow research, is: a risk of heightened battery drain.

Information? Experiences?

The firmware v315 is worse than v126 at battery life. I've no idea if it has something to do with the Google Play Services.

I have installed the 15 Mar '18, and also GSam Battery Monitor (3.30).
I will check the latter from time to time, but I intend to keep the Google Play Services almost all the time.

Google Play Services are there to be able to automatically sync app data between different devices. Unless you enable sync they should not affect battery life. At least in theory.
