Question Added Book, want to delete

Hello, I've read some threads about deleting source files and see it cant be done automatically. Thats not an issue for me.
I have numerous folders of ebooks that I am adding to libraries. I would then like to delete those original folders and use Calibre to back up the books i've added as opposed to keeping the original folders as this makes my OCD nuts! lol
Is it safe to do this as long as i backup the libraries in Calibre first? Thanks

Yes you can.

But why are you creating multiple libraries, and not just one. I partition my regular books library into Virtual Libraries for Novels, Biographies, Reference, Children's Books etc - bit like a pubic library. IMO the only reason to have separate libraries is if you want to carry disparate metadata for different types of books, e.g. I keep separate libraries for regular books, magazines, comics, and videos.

I did it as I went along.
I moved a batch (~20) of books to my TBA (to be added) folder (was before Auto Add folder )
Added the books, resolved issues, moved AGAIN to my Archive (if not the trash)
Repeat

Now there is the Auto Add folder option (see the tab on preferences:ADDING BOOKS)

Books placed there get added, then they auto-move to trash. stuff left behind, did not add. you need to figure out why or delete

I don't think Children's books belong in that kind of library

You make a good point, I clearly 'over-thought' this. Since im starting all over again I will use you as my muse and explore my options using one library.

Thank you to all the replies, I needed one of you to confirm and I am now cozy!

Why ever not, the only person who has direct access to my libraries is me. If I want to share a book I send a copy attached to an email which the recipient can do with as they please, or if its not in the PD I buy them a copy, send a voucher, whatever.

And I like to read some contemporary children's stories, whereas I don't like to read most of the contemporary stories targeted at adults.

Indeed I did, completely, including in Jacquie's quote

Spiel chequers should highlight common mistypes, homophobes etc
