Backup Kindle reading position to Calibre library

Something I've always wanted to do is be able to backup the book reading position from my Kindle Mk4 to Calibre, and be able to restore them back to the Kindle. Occasionally I've had to factory reset my Kindle and use Calibre to restore all my books and collections. The problem here is that, according to my Kindle, I haven't read any of the books! I know I can just copy the documents directory from the Kindle but doing it with Calibre would be a far better solution.

No, calibre does not have any such functionality.

Just add a custom column which you can use to show if you have read the book.
