Problem with DeDRM plugin for Calibre
I have used this plug-in before on my Mac successfully. I have recently switched to pc and can't get it working.
This is with Windows 10 version 1709: I installed the DeDRM 6.5.5 plug-in into Calibre. I added my Kindle serial number. The books I imported didn't get stripped of their DRM. I figured something might be wrong with either Calibre or the plug-in. I uninstalled Calibre and installed the latest version (3.18). I also downloaded the plug-in again. To my great surprise, the DeDRM plugin was already installed and it also remembered my Kindle's serial number. I suppose that when I uninstalled the older Calibre, not everything was deleted and the new Calibre added the plug-in on its own. I don't care for that sort of thing. I proceeded to remove the plug-in and installed the freshly downloaded one instead. Imported books still do not get stripped of their DRM. What am I missing? |

Did your DeDRM plugin get installed into the File Type Plugins section? Did you click Load plugin from file to install the plugin? Did you click on the DeDRM zip file when loading the plugin?
My configurations (under Customize Plugin) have no serial numbers entered, and the plugin works fine. And, I agree, that it's great that the preferences stay when upgrading to a new version. I can't imagine having to set all my preferences each time I upgrade (I have a ton of preferences set up). |

No serial number is required when you use Kindle4PC to download the book you bought. If you download to a physical Kindle then move them to calibre a serial number is apparently required.
