Genres - How do I assign a book to 2 genres?

I've just started to use genres. Have looked at https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/sub_groups.html which tells me how to do it. The instructions say I can assign a book to mutile genres. But I have not been able to do it. I'm sure it must be very simple. Help please.

Do you need hierarchical groups or just two simple genres?

Simple genre, you just use a comma , separator between the two values in edit metadata.

And same for hierarchical groups like: Language.Englisch, Language.French, Test.Document

I knew the answer would be simple. Problem was that I had defined the Col Type incorrectly. Now all is working as it is suppose to. Thanks again.
