calibre now crashes on startup - help SOLVED
The same thing happened overnight to me. I'm running Linux - Ubuntu. I had left calibre running, as I always do, and went to add a book this morning. It threw an error, (which I'm sorry I didn't write down), so I restarted calibre, at which time it came back up with 0 everything. Checked the drive, the calibre library is still there. Uninstalled calibre. Reinstalled calibre. The program now crashes on start. Yikes.

From a console window, type "calibre-debug" and post the output here (using spoiler tags, please!).

Update: We got calibre to install and run. But it still refuses to acknowledge that there's a calibre library where it previously resided. Working on it.
We did notice there is a file in the directory called metadata_pre_restore.db that I don't remember seeing before. Would this mean that my original db has gotten corrupted? Thanks for the help! Remembering how much I miss this community. |

The solution is do do a restore database so Calibre reads all the covers and OPF files and generates a fresh database.

I don't remember doing so, but I suppose anything is possible. Chris runs a backup on my calibre library every 24 hours (for just such eventualities as these) so we replaced the metadata.db file with the one from the backup and all is well.
