Use the + icon in the top bar of the book list to add new books and the trash icon in the top bar of the book details page to a delete a book. Note that only authenticated users are allowed to perform these actions, so you have to setup user accounts for the server to use these features

Uncheck Allow xxxx to make changes

Tested and works.
With it unchecked:

The user gbm does not have permission to make changes
With it checked:

OK, already have that turned off, didn't try it to see what happened, I just wanted to turn off the (+) on the display.

I checked and it works just like you said.

Hope you put something in the User Guide to that effect.
