Question Coolreader setting for line-height.

I was trying out coolreader again and for some reason the line-height is set to way too high. I tried the space setting and it did nothing. And spacing is set to half what it was and it's still not that great. Basically after every <p> there's 2 blank lines right now and it's annoying me.

Dump Coolreader, install KoReader and go ask in the KOReader forum.

I don't believe KSM has problems with the Aura H2O. It is the Aura H2O Edition 2 that has problems. And I thought it was the only device still having problems.

Unfortunately, with recent firmwares the old rotation problem has reappeared. I think the concerned models are Aura HD, H2O and H2O2. I think many users simply power the reader off after using nickel, instead of exiting directly back into KSM, in order to avoid the screen rotation.

CR uses the internal CSS files of a book by default. If you want to disable this, you have to go to the settings menu, disable internal styles and probably everything will be OK. I am using CR for years now and never had a problem adjusting the line-height with "spacing".

Changing the "space" value does not change line-height, but the space between words. When entering 50 or 100 you can see the change in the preview beneath the keyboard (not every value is allowed here). So it does something, but not relevant to line-height.

I hadn't noticed it had turned up again on the older devices. But, that makes it sound like there is something different about the 6.8" screens.

That sounds as if the spacing after a paragraph has been coded in the ebook stylesheet or embedded styles. If this is on just one book, try opening it in an editor (Calibre or Sigil for epubs) and check the styles applied to a paragraph. You will likely find margin or padding items that are the cause.

One ebook I looked had the following as the default indented paragraph code:

Code:
.indent {
    display : block;
    font-size : 0.87em;
    line-height : 1.1;
    padding : 0 0 1.5em 0;
    margin : 0 0 0.2em 0;
    text-align : justify;
    text-indent : 4%;
}

I haven't been using Nickel (the stock Kobo UI, but using it here to mean the Kobo software in general) so I haven't been updating the firmware. While threads like this are a reminder why, I wonder what might be all the great improvements to the Reader programs that Kobo uses, I could have missed? Has it really improved that much? All I end up seeing are the new problems introduced. Are any of the improvements for the reading of books not bought at the Kobo store, or is it all for kepub?

Luck;
Ken
