Avoiding duplicates by Adding books

Hello

I do not know where to put my question.

It would be very useful to control by adding books to calibre through binary compare to avoid duplicates.

let me know please if it is possible.

Thanks

I suggest using an 'Intake' Library for the initial Add. Then use the Find Duplicates Plugin, set to your desired compare method, compare to the destination library (that is a Icon right click option). Once resolved, Use the Copy To Library (context menu) to move the books to the main

verbatim

We're referring to the Find Duplicates->Find library duplicates option.

I do a fuzzy compare on Author and Title values - if I find a duplicate on those terms I resolve 'manually'.

Thank You very much for Your help. Your proposals how to solve the problem are very laborious. The problem is as follows: I have large library of thousands ebooks. After adding new ebooks I try to put correct name and author of new ebook through downloading of metadata.

By adding of new ebooks the name and author are not in correct form very often and duplicates are not automatically detected.

If it would be possible to control duplicate ebooks through binary method during adding ebooks it would save very much work.

The duplicate checker has a binary compare.

Ebooks are very rarely actual binary duplicates. You may as well run something like Dupeguru over your unadded books folder + Calibre's library and just sequester those books from your unadded books, and don't even add them.

But if you've ever used any of the Calibre features that touch the ebook internals, and there are quite a few, then you'll get few if any results.
