Resizing photos

Hi. My stepdad wants to email some photos and needs a way to make them smaller.
He uses AOL.
Any tips, suggestions or programs would be appreciated.
Dell Computer, not sure the Windows. Either 8 or 10.
May or may not be relevant but stepdad is 75.

A very tiny (just 4mb), easy and free software I use to resize images is PhoXo. Official download link is here. It is capable to many edits on images like cropping, resizing, rotating, adjusting brightness/contrast, adding texts, etc. I use it in Windows 10.

Is it simple enough to just resize photos to be sent in emails?
If so, thanks a million.

Yes, I think it is quite easy. Open an image, press F2 (or using a mouse -> Image menu -> Size) and this dialogue box appears where you can change the image size in % or by pixel size. See sample:

Do you have Microsoft Picture Manager as part of Office? I no longer have it (we "upgraded" to MS Office 2013, it was only available up to 2007) but it allowed you to resize photos as a batch very simply.

You might be able to get it stand-alone too.

I use Irfanview. There are directions for re-sizing at Bleeping Computer.

I've been using IrfanView for years. There are several tutorials at Youtube, including tutorials specifically for resizing images for email.

How big are his photos? AOL says there is a 25MB limit for a single email (which is the same for a lot of services)...

- good for batch operations.

I also have a shell extension (right click option) Image Resizer for Windows. It's handy for 'ad-hoc' resizes, developer recently added some useful new features.

I have no idea but he put 128G of memory in his camera and typically uses the highest settings.
