Danger Trail by Neil Webb, a pseudonym for British author Donald S. Rowland (ISFDB, SFE) is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, this one a risky missing persons search journey, as a once-notorious retired outlaw is framed for a robbery, disappearing to a place his daughter cannot reach safely and thus asks for the help of a weary wandering gunslinger to accompany her, alongside an escort of other dangerous men as quest companions, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1964 by Robert Hale.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program)

Description
A dangerous journey lies ahead…

For Lew Grand, life is a lonesome and weary road.

Having shot and killed twenty-two men who fancied themselves better gunslingers, his name is feared and admired across the western Frontier.

Wanted in most of the East and West, he’s taken to wandering the South – gambling and drinking and shooting any who dare challenge him.

One day, someone says a woman is looking for him – Rana Harpley. He doesn’t know her but he does know her father, the once infamous leader of a gang of outlaws, Ryland Harpley.

It was said though he gave up his ways, and pardoned for his crimes, settled down to start a ranch and a family.

But something happened. A bank in the local town was robbed and Ryland was framed for it. In the dead of night, he vanished and now Rana is looking for him.

She needs Lew to help her find her father; Rana believes Ryland has exiled himself to a place called Laughing Stream Valley.

But that’s in Indian Territory. Worse, a war has been brewing up between the Sioux and Cheyennes Indians, and the U.S. Calvary.

Lew thinks there’s no hope of getting there, let alone any hope in Ryland even being alive still.

Then again, perhaps he’ll allow Fate to once again push him northwards…

However, travelling with Rana isn’t going to be peaceful. With her are a team of notorious gunmen.

There’s Tony Floret – real name Antonio Floretti – came to America a murderer, having killed his way through Naples.

There’s the Hickey brothers, Con and Lee, a couple of outlaws whose infamy is on par with Lew’s.

And then there’s Buster Kyle – who might be the only honourable one of the bunch. All he wants is to make sure Rana is safe.

With no guarantee that Rana’s father is even alive, what lies ahead now for Lee is a Danger Trail of the worst kind…

An action-packed tale, Danger Trail is a thrilling, gun-toting Western.

You got me with "...weary, wandering gunslinger..."

For some reason, I don't see Richard Simmons in this character.

--- Got it.

Thank you!
