Cover Images
Hello Folks,
Minor issue here, mostly out of curiosity: I side loaded a book to the Clara, then noticed that the cover image was distorted in shape. So I edited the image and added the corrected cover to the book via Sigil, then copied the repaired book onto the Clara. The e-reader still shows the original, mis-shaped thumbnail for the book. Is there a way to force the reader to update the thumbnail image? Thanks in advance! |

Short of bypassing the on-device cover processing via the Calibre Kobo Utilities plugin, the easiest way is generally to delete the book first (*from the device's UI*).
And then to restart Nickel/the device for good measure, because caching. |

If you manually sideloaded the book, the device will generally remove the book from the internal database and then reload it as a new book. That should mean the cover images are removed and regenerated. It has been a long time since I did this, so I checked and the cover images were removed and but, as they were in the cache, the old one still showed. After restarting the device, the new cover was generated. Opening some other books and closing them would probably also work to push the covers out of the cache and have them regenerated when they were needed. As @NiLuJe said, if you delete the book using the device UI, when you reload the book, the cover should be fixed. Otherwise, you can bump into the problem with the cache. |

Thanks to both of you. I must be doing something wrong. But it's not a big deal.
