Are these hacks possible? (Changing search / home screen defaults.)

Hello all! I have finally patched my Kobo H20, and all is great, but I would really like to know if these two hacks are possible. I couldn't find them in the list.

1) Is it possible to change the search option so that it defaults to searching your own files, rather than the Kobo server?

2) Can I get rid of the Kobo advertising button on the top right hand corner of the home screen? The one showing 'New Reads!'. I'd much rather have one of my own collections there.

Thank you!

1) That patch is no longer supported with newer firmware. From the home page, if you search My Books, the search will use that as the default the next time you search.

2) Not at this time. That button will shift through various settings.

The device remembers what search you last used in various places. The first time it uses the default. From then, whatever you used the last time you opened search from that place.

The top row will show your four most recently opened but not finished books. If you only have two opened books, the right hand side will be replaced by something else. Exactly what depends on what you do. It will probably change to an author or a collection after you have opened and read few books.

Thank you both, @davidfor and @DNSB - you two are always so quick with your helpful replies.

I can't say I've had much luck with the default setting for the search in the past (I always had to reselect 'search my collections') but perhaps this has changed in one of the updates that I missed recently. Now I know, I can have a play and try to fix it.

As for the advertising - apologies for jumping the gun, I haven't had much of a chance to read anything while I've been sorting out my device, so hopefully things will start to change soon. I did open and close a few books and collections, but none of them appeared on my home screen. Fingers crossed it will soon.

Thanks again for all your help.
