Delete Specific Format in 3.30
Hi I need to warn you of a bug I found in Calibre 3
I finally got my library structure where I wanted it, and I decided I didn't need duplicate formats. I removed the formats I don't like, thinking that it would keep the files if they were the only format, which has been the behavior from Calibre previously. NOW I HAVE A BUNCH OF EMPTY BOOKS! The remove a specific format function is no longer alerting when you remove all formats from a book. |

As far as I know, delete specific formats has never not deleted the last format. The only action that does that is "Remove all formats from selected books, except..." as is noted at the top of the dialog for that action.

RSF works against SELECTED books. It is assumed that you planned to do that with whatever you selected. Some folk keep just the 'empty book' to remind them of the status (read).

I noticed this quite some time ago, when I inadvertently selected all formats instead of the two I wanted. At the time I thought, 'That's odd I thought it wasn't possible to delete all formats'. But, when I saw that the 'Choose formats not to be deleted' action... which I never use... has, 'Note that this will never remove all formats from a book.', I decided I must be misremembering. Thanks Everyone, yes you are right, its the remove all formats except function that I was thinking of.
Ugh, Can't believe I made that mistake. Thank you so much for your replies. Thank fully I had a full backup from a week before so I could just restore the library, rather than having to re-import all my books and merge the formats to the empty books. THIS IS WHY BACKUPS SAVE YOUR LIFE. |
