What Color is Your "White" PW3?
I just got this PW3 a few weeks ago. I Really like it! But have a Few Questions to others that chose the White Bezel...
My Bezel is Not White its Yellow Normal or Not?? My Screen Background is Not White either... its Lavender?? Normal or Not? When did Amazon Add Color to the Screen? I really like that the Screen is a different color than Stark white. Easy on the eyes! ![]() |

Is there any chance you might have the start of cataracts?
They can cause subtle color shifts such as you describe. The case and the screen are off-white, but not to the extremes you describe. |

It is good to have confirmation.
The description you give has to be subjective, so it is probably not written to be read the way I read it. ![]() In answer to your question: Yes, the case is a bit off-white. Slightly towards the yellow (as if it where an 'aged white'). The screen is also whiter than other models have been, but is still off-white also. The screen front lights are also not white, they have a distinct blueish cast. So the screen background will seem to shift in "whiteness" with how high you turn up the front lights. Turn the front lights off or use the pop-up panel to turn the screen completely off (hold power button 4 - 8 seconds until panel pops up). Compare it side-by-side with an older model and you will see that it is whiter, even though it isn't "white" in the absolute sense. |

I was going to ask what type of lighting you have in your house.
I learned recently that photographing on different backgrounds can affect the color of the picture. If you would like to see the projects just pm me. |

It's just my opinion, fwiw, but I think it's a serious mistake to diagnose medical issues of a poster to an online forum, even if only *suggesting* the *possibility* of a disorder. It could cause unnecessary anxiety. Fortunately, Katie (she'll always be Katie to me) had incontrovertible proof that your suspicions were groundless, otherwise since she is a worrier, she might now be needlessly anguished and scheduling an unnecessary doctor appointment. |

OK folks as a Vet with Diabetes I get my eyes checked by the VA every year in Jan or Feb depending on the weather. Main thing they check for is cataracts & whatever else Diabetes can effect.
Cindy I use old fashion 60 watt bulbs |

Imo, it's not a proper role for "Dr." KNC1 to be scaring internet strangers into running to the eye doctor (possibly, for hypochondriacal types, in a panic) even if periodic ophthalmologic visits are a good idea.

But you are not taking two things into consideration in this specific case: *) We are both past the age when annual eye testing has become routine. *) We are both veterans, with access to VA health care (and for people in our age groups, they are going to check our eyes annually, like it or not). So in this specific case, there is no chance of alarming anyone, we know our own condition(s) for certain. But it is possible that the color shadings brought about by normal aging changes had not been considered. A purely technical consideration, not a health care matter. Please do me a favor and try to eat right. Don't want to lose you to that disease. Tip on light bulbs if you can find them bright white or daylight puts out a bit more light than the soft white. We are using the new LED lights. We used the CFL lights for years. More for the lower wattage output than energy savings. |

And another tip, in addition to the above by Cinisajoy -
If the apparent off-color appearance of the Kindle (or anything else) bothers you, use a "plant light" or "grow light", light. They might be a bit hard to find in LED, but you can find them in CFL or conventional incandescent. Hint: Use the same over the Kitchen counter and over the table - The food looks extra good under that type of lighting. |

My bezel is a bright pure white in direct sunlight and yellowish under incandescent lighting. The paperwhite has a light that is overly bluish. If you turn the pw light off and go outside you will see what the bezel really looks like.
