Can't run Calibre on 3.1.1 64bit install.

EDIT: Correction, the following was for the 32bit version (sorry) but I also tried the 64bit version with the same results...I've added the 64bit error file at the end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried all the same stuff as the same thread for 3.1.0: restarts, uninstall, etc. I get the following error:

Quote:

After two updates, 3.1.1 would not install. Third try and I clicked "repair" and program is still dead.
Please help!

I'm having the same problems....
I uninstalled and reinstalled from the main download source location as well as the Alternate#1.

I then re-downloaded and installed 3.0 and it's running okay

This was posted in the other thread and it worked for this problem also.

It seems like a "no longer compatible" plugin would just be ignored rather than causing a crash?? But at least Calibre is usable again!!

Hi folks,
To continue my issues with this:
I had Calibre 64-bit 2.85.1 and it was working.
This morning I downloaded 3.0.0 and it installed and said that a further update was required. I downloaded 3.1.1 and it would not install.
I clicked again on the .exe file and it gave me a "repair" option. I did that to no avail.
I uninstalled 3.1.1 and reinstalled 3.0.0. It would not open.
I uninstalled 3.0.0 and reinstalled 2.85.1 and it opens and seems to be working.

I'm not sure why I had to restart the (Win 10) computer three times to install the 3.0 files, but the 2.85 file did not require it (?)

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Don

There were some instructions in another thread here about this. I had a similar issue but uninstalling and re-installing along with manually deleting the ios plugin folder fixed it for me

Hi,

I just updated to 3,1,1 Windows 64 bit and for the first time, I get an error message (error code 126) cannot find calibre-launcher.dll

I ran a repair but I still get the same error. Any suggestion how I can get this file and where to put it.
I deinstalled 3,1,1 and downloaded 3,10. I the older version but I still get the same error message that it can't find the dll file in question (error 126)
This is rather disconcerting.

What can I do to resolve this problem?

Thanks!

xavier

Uninstall, delete C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2
(or wherever you chose to install calibre). Then re-install. And
dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings.

For a few people on windows upgrading calibre from 2.x to 3.x causes some bits of the 2.x install to remain behind, which leads to issues. Nobody knows why, some intricacy in the innards of the windows installer subsytem, I assume.

Doesn't the Marvin plugin also have to go?

Calibre 3.1.1 Fails To Run

I uninstalled Calibre 3.0 completely with RevoUninstall and Calibre 3.1.1 still fails to run with the following errors. 3.0 works fine. I'm just going back to it and will look for a fix here.
