Confused Newbie...no books, just file folders?

I just d/l Calibre and was anxious to use it, but....

I am using Kindle for PC and just d/l 3 books to my "kindle". They show up in the Kindle program on the computer, but when I try to find them to add them to the Calibre library, all I get are 3 folders? What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

How did you 'add' them? (exact steps you did)

Thanks theducks for the reply. I wound up reverting back to version 1.17 and was able to add them that way.

The only other problem I have is that when I open them in Calibre reader, and maximize the screen, the pictures are "skewed" and distorted by being or stretched. Is there a setting I need to set so it can be maximized and still hold the proportions of the pictures? Thanks.

I edit the book and SVG wrap the image with the code to maintain Aspect ratio (look at the Calibre added cover code on the titlepage.

Some folk hate not having every inch filled, even if distorted.
Me, I always wanted (since I got my first Laser Disc in the 80's) wanted letterboxed movies rather than that Pan-and-scan c**p
