Ive just done my first epubcheck in Sigil. Gotta a few questions about the report.
![]() 1. Width Value Col: 163: ERROR(RSC-005): Error while parsing file 'value of attribute "width" is invalid; must be an integer'. My width value said width="50%" So, whats wrong with that? Doesn't epub like percentages? Last edited by Cyberseeker; 06-17-2017 at 05:17 PM. Reason: fixed a mistake |

You want...
Code:
width="50%" |

For example, if your image is defined as: Code:

I used the latest version of Sigil, so I guess that makes it Epub 3.

Look in the OPF file and see what version ePub it is. If you are not needing any ePub 3 specific features, go with ePub 2.

Ive had a look around and my Sigil is set to Epub 3. My thought was that the latest version would suit best since I used a lot of SVG files.

Epub 2 supports SVG just fine. ePub 2 is currently supported by more devices/apps, so you need to decide what market you are trying to target. More and more devices are starting to support ePub 3, and they can easily be made backwards compatible so those ePub 2 devices will read them. IIRC Sigil automagically creates the proper files for backwards compatibility??? So...there are fewer and fewer valid reasons to not publish in ePub 3... FWIW

2. SVG Images The report faults nearly all of my images, and cranks out miles of SVG code. I don't know how to read SVG, let alone fix it. Anyway, here is a portion cut n' pasted from the report. Code:
Col: 40: ERROR(RSC-005): Error while parsing file 'attribute "inkscape:version" not allowed here; expected attribute "alignment-baseline", "baseProfile", "baseline-shift", "class", "clip", "clip-path", "clip-rule", "color", "color-interpolation", "color-interpolation-filters", "color-profile", "color-rendering", "contentScriptType", "contentStyleType", "cursor", "direction", "display", "dominant-baseline", "enable-background", "externalResourcesRequired", "fill", "fill-opacity", "fill-rule", "filter", "flood-color", "flood-opacity", "font-family", "font-size", "font-size-adjust", "font-stretch", "font-style", "font-variant", "font-weight", "glyph-orientation-horizontal", "glyph-orientation-vertical", "image-rendering", "kerning", "letter-spacing", "lighting-color", "marker-end", "marker-mid", "marker-start", "mask", "ns:type", "onabort", "onactivate", "onclick", "onerror", "onfocusin", "onfocusout", "onload", "onmousedown", "onmousemove", "onmouseout", "onmouseover", "onmouseup", "onresize", "onscroll", "onunload", "onzoom", "opacity", "overflow", "pointer-events", "preserveAspectRatio", "requiredExtensions", "requiredFeatures", "shape-rendering", "stop-color", "stop-opacity", "stroke", "stroke-dasharray", "stroke-dashoffset", "stroke-linecap", "stroke-linejoin", "stroke-miterlimit", "stroke-opacity", "stroke-width", "style", "systemLanguage", "text-anchor", "text-decoration", "text-rendering", "unicode-bidi", "visibility", "word-spacing", "writing-mode", "x", "xml:base", "xml:lang", "xml:space", "y" or "zoomAndPan" (with xmlns:ns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops")'. Once you're done with this, you'll also need to manually delete the RDF metadata section, which epubcheck also doesn't like: Spoiler:

I have worked through most cases removing the RDF metadata section as you have described. However, several of my images have different 'RDF' code, and Im not sure how to edit it in these cases. I have colored red the line that was bought to my attention by Epub checker:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<svg
xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"
xmlns:cc="http://creativecommons.org/ns#"
xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"
xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"
version="1.1"
id="svg3336"
viewBox="0 0 254 109.81407"
style="clip-rule:evenodd;fill-rule:evenodd;image-rendering:optimizeQuality;shape-rendering:geometricPrecision;text-rendering:geometricPrecision"
height="389.10501"
width="900"
xml:space="preserve"><metadata
id="metadata4155"><rdf:RDF><cc:Work
rdf:about=""><dc:format>image/svg+xml</dc:format><dc:type
rdf:resource="http://purl.org/dc/dcmitype/StillImage" /><dc:title></dc:title></cc:Work></rdf:RDF></metadata>

Delete everything between the starting <metadata and the closing </metadata>:
xml:space="preserve"><metadata id="metadata4155"><rdf:RDF><cc:Work rdf:about=""><dc:format>image/svg+xml</dc:format><dc:type rdf:resource="http://purl.org/dc/dcmitype/StillImage" /><dc:title></dc:title></cc:Work></rdf:RDF></metadata> |
