Is there a setting for this? This is a new change that I didn't see coming, and I prefer the old way.

This is configurable:
Preferences->Look&feel->Book details
the option is "clicking on author names should", you just have to select wikipedia

It was documented in the 2.85 and 2.85.1 release notes
