				No USB Transfer Anymore?

			It's been a LOOOOOOOOOOng while.

I've a TF700 that used to connect (actually a TF300) a long time ago, but now, although Calibre sees it, and I've set up the folder on the ext storage card as the location, AND while it reads everything on the device, I can't send to CC or the folder I designated via USB cable - my preferred method as I've no WiFi on my big desktop. OR do I need CC at all: I can use Calibre's Save to Disc feature and just load then into Moon Reader. Although having paid for CC, I'd like to get it to work. CC does not support USB transfers. It does support wireless device, content server, and cloud library transfers.

If you are happy with the moon+ library manager and USB transfers then you don't need CC. |

If you have a question about Calibre Companion, you should ask it in the Calibre Companion forum, not here.

Note that you don't need to have WiFi on your desktop computer to be able to send things to CC. It is sufficient that your desktop be connected to the network that the device running CC is connecting wirelessly to. |

Did it ever support USB? 6-77 years ago I vaguely remember it doing so? |

CC does support scanning for "new" books during a wireless connection. This process can find books that appeared in CC's folders via a USB connection and then compare them to the books in the connected calibre library. This might be the process you are remembering. |

![]() FWIW: CC is almost 5 years old, first released on 11 Aug 2012. It has been quite a ride. The first few months were brutal. We thought at first release that people would want a hundred or so books on a device. We sure got that wrong, and had to completely rebuild CC's internals to support the multi-thousand book libraries people wanted. |
