Missing Book

Not sure if right place to post
I transfer a book from Calibre to my Oasis when I disconnect the book appears for a second or two and then disappears. If I connect back to Calibre and click on device the book is showing in the listing but cannot see it. Any ideas much appreciated.

Make sure the selectors in the upper left corner of the home screen are set to "All" and "Downloaded", respectively.

Are you sure it's really not there? It doesn't show up when you do a search? If you have your home page in "recent" sort order, it could be something as simple as the Kindle's clock being wrong.

Book "stuck" inside of the USB cable perhaps?
Use an e-book written with smaller electrons.

Seriously now -
If your speaking of the original Paperwhite model, some of those are getting old enough now to start showing memory hardware problems.

In general, it is still "too early", but a few such reports have shown up in the technical sub-forum here.

More likely something about how you are trying to use the Kindle -
Book not a type recognized by a Kindle -
Book not transferred to the /documents directory -
As HT points out, even an incorrect date/time setting between the Kindle and the PC -
Something wrong about the details at your end is most likely.

I once had a similar problem, with one author's books only. Except the book would appear on the e-reader until I plugged it into Calibre the next time whereupon it would disappear from the reader though Calibre said it was there. I tentatively solved the problem by side-loading the books into the Documents folder of the reader. But later on I solved the problem by deleting the books from Calibre, downloading them again but this time converting them to AZW3 instead of Mobi. You might try something similar. You don't give many particulars, so hard to advise. And of course, your problem might not be the same.

Sorted it when I looked in the kindle document folder the book was in there but in a different folder to the other two books by the same author. When I looked closely at the books in Calibre I noticed there was a full stop in the authors name of the book that wouldn't show so deleted it from kindle when connected to Calibre and reloaded it hey presto its there and stays.
