How to turn off instant/quick note?
I could be wrong but when I get used to read a French book and highlighted a piece longer piece of text then I would get a pop-up with the translation to English. But now when I do it, it automatically highlights the text as a note and if I want a translation then I have to hit an extra button (and then delete the note highlighting) I have no idea how this changed but I know it wasn't as aggravating before. I couldn't find anything in the settings. Anyone know how to turn off that instant note function?

The behaviour changed in a recent firmware update. It can't be altered.

Gah. Serves me right for leaving wifi on. So any book that I need to highlight a translation is going to be filled with useless notes then?

You can hit 'undo', but it still leaves the useless garbage "note" behind in My Clippings, with no indication that it was ever deleted. So this makes My Clippings even less useful than it already was and pointlessly increases flash wear to no useful end. Great move, Amazon.
