[Android] Problems between CC on my tablet & Calibre on my PC
Hi there,
First, i've to apologize because i'm french and my english is not so good!
But I'll try to be easy-to-follow...
I've recently started using Calibre Companion on my Shield Tablet.
On my PC i manage my collection with Calibre and i use "Start content server" to get some of my books on my tablet.
At the beginning it was great but now that i have more than 400 books on my tablet (but is that the reason?? I use CC for 3 weeks) i have a big problem : Some books don't get on my tablet... When i'm connected, it seems to be ok (there is a cross in front of the choosen book so i imagine i'll find it on my tablet but... not everytime!).
And sometimes the book is in my tablet library but at the next connection, it disappears...
I hope you'll understand me, thanks for trying!

Are you running out of storage space on the shield.
Go to device
Settings,
storage,
see how much you have not used

Thanks for your answer.
My Books are on my SD card : 54.66 go used / 58.67go (4 go free)
Calibre Compagnon folder about 40go...

Books can "disappear" from CC's book list/grid if they are excluded by a search or by a category selection in the grouping drawer. Open the grouping drawer, make sure that no search is active ("clear" the search if necessary by tapping on it and choosing "clear"), and then make sure that no category is selected in the grouping list (tap on "Groups" if necessary).

If you are looking for the book file on the SD card then CC can tell you where it is -- the path. In CC go to Book Details for the book and scroll down looking for "Path:". You will see the full path to the book file on your device.

Finally, CC's "Books with missing files" (found in the menu when not connected) will tell you if CC cannot find a book file on the device that CC thinks should be there.

Hi,
I ever tried those solutions.
But i saw that:
In folder "Calibre_Compagnon" on my SD cards, the books i can't see in my library are called like this : "Name of the book [colonne invalide]"....

Pardonez mes fauts ...

Ça veut dire que le "template" que vous utilisez pour calculer les noms des fichiers fait référence à un "field" (colonne) qui n'existe pas ou n'existe plus. Si vous utilisez le template CC, ouvrez Book Details, tapez sur le menu et ensuite sur Edit file name template (je ne sais pas comment c’est écrit en français). Ça va vous montrer un éditeur de template et un champ de test montrant la valeur du template.

Si vous utilisez un template définit dans calibre même, vous devez le corriger en calibre.

google translates that to invalid column, in English, I am sure it is a clue but too hard for me.
it may help if you give the complete book details - title, author, series, for one of the missing books as they appear in your calibre library on your PC. it may be because of some foreign/special character ?

Thank you very much for your help. Especially to make the effort to speak French!
I begin to understand and i found some tuto to help me. It's a matter of setting with "tableau des connexions des métadonnées".
I'll be back soon i hope, to explain what happened ...
But i just don't undestand why everything was going well for 3 weeks ans sudenly....

I love Calibre and I'm sure I made the right choice with CC!

Ok, Thanks a lot, Stumped & Chaley, everything's all right now!
I know that i have to take care about "Edit file name template" when i want to download books from my PC Calibre Library to CC on my tablet.
Furthermore, editing this template help for a better classification of my books.
