I haven't had that specific problem, but I do occasionally have issues with mail reaching all of my iThingies. I have a MacBook Pro, an iPhone 7, an iPad Pro 9.7 and some older devices which mostly collect dust. Sometimes certain mail won't make it to some devices, even though it is set up to propagate to all of them.

Does your mail provider have an app? I use Gmail, and find that the Gmail app works far better than the iPhone's built-in mail app.

If your email provider supports both IMAP and POP3, you can try the other setup.

IMAP is generally more reliable if the mail provider supports it. From the symptoms, the mail server isn't receiving the notification from the mail client that the message has been successfully delivered, and hence is sending it multiple times.

The email provider service can definitely be the issue. I use GoDaddy, or as I call the, GoCrappy. As soon as my contract expires I will be finding another web host and email provider as their services are really bad. So perhaps your email provider service is screwing things up with their servers.

I use GoDaddy as well, but I have it configured to forward all my mail to my gmail account. As you say, GD's mail servers are pretty bad, but their forwarding service works fine.

I could do that except I refuse to deal with the devil--Google. Google loves to sell your info to anyone who has the money. And their security is pretty bad.

And on cue with my previous post, this just in: Massive Phishing Attack Targets Millions of Gmail Users

Quote:
An unusually sophisticated identity phishing campaign appeared to target Google's roughly 1 billion Gmail users worldwide, seeking to gain control of their entire email histories and spread itself to all of their contacts, Google confirmed Wednesday.
Bleep Google...

I really don't see how Google can be held to blame for a phishing attack on their systems. They appear to have dealt with this one promptly and efficiently.

As I said in an earlier post, the Gmail app works very well indeed for me. I far prefer it to the built-in iPhone mail app, and I've never experienced any issues of duplicate mail with it.
